LightPointe’s board of directors includes a strong mix of leaders with a high degree of depth in the Enterprise and outdoor wireless industries.


Carl Berg
Director

Mr. Berg has been actively engaged in the ownership, development and management of R&D/office real estate and in venture capital investment for over 35 years. Mr. Berg’s private venture fund with investments in over 100 companies around the world with a major interests in California & Texas technology and biotech companies including medical instruments, medical devices, drug development, chips, wireless, networking and communications. Investments include Sun Micro Systems, Integrated Devices Technology, Savi Technology, and Netlogic Microsystems.

Since 1998, Mr. Berg has been Chairman and CEO of Mission West Properties, an REIT. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Mission West Properties, Inc., Hancock Fabrics, Valence Technology, Inc., a developer of advanced rechargeable battery technology and Mosys, Inc. a supplier of embedded memory for systems on a chip and numerous private technology companies. Mr. Berg holds a B.A. in Corporation Finance from the University of New Mexico.

Heinz A. Willebrand
Director

Dr. Heinz A. Willebrand is widely regarded as being among key driving visionary forces behind the Free-Space Optics (FSO) industry movement. Well known and recognized for his contributions to the advancement of FSO, Heinz regularly speaks at national and international conferences on technical and business related aspects of FSO and Millimeter-Wave (MMW) technology.

Heinz founded LightPointe in 1998 and after the company was sold to Berg & Berg, LLC in 2006, he co-founded Rayawave, a designer and innovator in the millimeter-wave systems communications space. After the LightPointe/Rayawave merger he became the Chief Executive Officer of the combined company. He is overseeing and guiding all business related aspects of the company and is also actively involved in creating the technology roadmap of the company.

Heinz obtained his Ph.D in Applied Physics at the University of Muenster/Germany and has held research and teaching positions with the University of Muenster and the University of Colorado in Boulder. He holds more than 10 national and international patents on fiber-optics and wireless technologies. Heinz has published more than 70 articles in technology and business journals and co-authored the book, "Free-Space Optics: Enabling Optical Connectivity in Today's Networks," the first comprehensive body of work that explores the physics and development of FSO and examines the technology's applications for public and private telecommunications networks.

Lorian Sanders
Director

Lorian has been with LightPointe in a finance and management capacity for over 8 years and has a total of 26 years of experience in accounting and finance in both the public and private sectors. Since accepting the positions of General Manager and VP of Finance Lorian has been instrumental in significantly increasing sales and decreasing operating expenses.

Lorian's dedication and enthusiasm have been a source of inspiration to LightPointe partners, customers and employees alike. She continues to be a driving force behind the long-term success of LightPointe.
