Vietnam Telecomp ("The 11th International Exhibition in Vietnam on Telecommunications and Information Technology") is the largest ICT event in Vietnam which will be staged in the HoChiMinh City International Exhibition and Convention Centre (HIECC), Vietnam from September 13-16, 2006.
Vietnam, as one of the most promising markets in Southeast Asia, was ranked as 2nd fast growing telecom market in world by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Vietnam currently has 6 telecoms companies operating 5 mobile phone networks with over 5.3 million subscribers. VNPT expected the number of subscribers to increase to 7.3 million by the end of 2005 and 21.2 million in late 2008. According to a draft on the development of information technology and media applications from 2006 to 2010, Vietnam is to devote a total of VND6.5 trillion to develop its electronic government systems.
